The\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sspcr.eurac.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SSPCR 2017<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0has taken place in\u00a0<strong>Bolzano (Italy) on March 22-24, 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Conference faced the challenge of inspiring the\u00a0<strong>transition of urban areas towards smarter and more sustainable places to live<\/strong>. Towards this aim, planners and stakeholders were called to take over, in a multidimensional perspective:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the urgent issues related to\u00a0<strong>climate change<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>energy efficiency<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>the new potential changes introduced by\u00a0<strong>cities\u2019 digitalization<\/strong>\u00a0and<\/li>\n<li>the\u00a0<strong>integration of ICT in infrastructures, mobility, and social interactions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this scenario, planning requires a global overview and understanding of the past and current state of cities as well as a holistic approach in redirecting their future development and regeneration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"picture-left-archives\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-article-archive\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ffue.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/keolis-169.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"title-right-archives\">\n<p>SSPCR 2017 welcomed more than hundred contributions coming from different research fields: urban and regional planning, environmental and social sciences, transportation, engineering and energy-related studies, as well as from the professional community.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ffue.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Book-Abstracts-Bolzano.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">See book of abstracts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside with oral, poster and virtual dissertations, cooperation and demonstration projects were also presented.<\/p>\n<p>A keynote address was given by\u00a0<strong>Pierre Laconte<\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ffue.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/EURAC-161127-2nd-INTERNATIONAL-CONFERENCE-abstract-ed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">read abstract<\/a>). It referred to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ffue.org\/2015\/12\/sustainable-urban-environments-in-europe-evaluation-criteria-and-practices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">book \u00ab\u00a0Sustainable cities.
